Diane De Valou
Diane De Valou is deeply rooted in the romantic and wild ancestralsurroundings of the Marches de Bourgogne where she was born in January of 1960.She incarnates that rebellious artistic nature which disdains current fashions.Marked as she is by timelessness, she is faithful to that intuition common tothose dedicated to the beautiful. Diane ventured alone to New York at age 18, impelled by the search for fresh, unknown emotion born of contact with others, seeking always greater selfdefinition. Her passion for painting took possession of her there, totally andirreversibly. Upon return to Paris, Diane joined the studio of Maryse Eloi as anapprentice of academic drawing. Admitted to the Camondo School, she met PatrickRubin, professor of interior design, who introduced her to Andree Putman. Andreeencouraged and confirmed Diane in her dedication to painting. Diane de Valou was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris where, encouraged by Olivier Debre who became her mentor for many years, she discoveredfreedom from existant form. Space became for her a transitional object, asubstitute for illusion more than an image of reality. Diane de Valou expressesher talent with a dream-like quality. Her work draws inspiration from theuniversality of poetic and mythological themes |
