I attempt to live with the nature of the world around me instead of trying toconquer it. I approach the materials in my work in the same way and amcaptivated by the natural flow of ink or paint. As in meditation, when the mindbecomes quiet yet distinctly aware of the body's surroundings through aheightened awareness, I strive to achieve in my work a balance of stillness andstimulation. The solid areas of color in the work stabilize and quiet thepainting. They hold the figure in place, defining it while internally the figurestrives to break free.
